Folklore: A Taylor Swift Fan Film

This student film was completed over a four month period, and was completely written, filmed, directed, and edited by Sara Hurst and Soly Carpio, and produced by Mount Sentinel Secondary's Performance and Media Academy.

Folklore is a student-produced film created by two Grade 12 students, Soly Carpio and myself. It tells the dramatic story of a complicated love triangle, following reckless James and devoted Betty as they navigate love, mistakes, and the consequences that follow. Inspired by Folklore by Taylor Swift, the film reimagines its narrative themes with a heart-breaking twist. All music rights belong to the artist.

SD8 Student Leadership Conference

This promotional video was created by a group of 3 high-school students for School District 8 in the West Kootenays to showcase the district's annual student leadership conference. This video won the 2024 "Bravo! Coup de Coeur" award from the Canadian Associaton for Communicators in Education.

This project was completed over the course of three weeks, beginning with students conducting interviews and capturing b-roll footage at the symposium to document key moments. The team then moved into the editing phase, reviewing and shaping the footage into a cohesive and engaging narrative that aligned with the district’s goal of promoting sustainability and highlighting student voices. The final piece demonstrated strong storytelling and production quality, ultimately earning national recognition as a “noteworthy standalone communications project.”
